December 15, 2024
It looks like we will have another January thaw in December, so with any luck, the weather will be quite nice for Tuesday and Thursday meals. The Holiday party at the Log House was very well-attended and people seemed to thoroughly enjoy the meal and visiting with the folks who were there. Since we are now into the holiday season and most folks are busy with family, things will be a little quieter than usual. Current plans include:
- Tuesday, December 17 – lunch from 12:00 – 1:30 – chicken and biscuits, with cake and ice cream for dessert. Please see below for information about a visit by a representative from the Western Connecticut Area Agency for the Aged.
- Thursday, December 19 – breakfast – home-cooked as usual from 7:30 – 9:00.
- Friday, December 20 – don’t forget the Cookie Swap and Social Hour from 10:00-11. There is still room, so please sign up if you are interested. The number of attendees will determine the number of cookies you will be able to bring home. Each person needs to bring 4 dozen homemade (no store bought) cookies in a container or on a platter to share, an empty container or platter for taking home the cookies, and a card with their recipe.
- We will be closed Christmas week (December 23 through January 2), so that our volunteers can focus on the holidays and their families. We will not be serving meals on December 24, December 26 or December 31. We will reopen for breakfast on January 2 to start what we hope will be a very happy New Year.
At lunch this Tuesday, Dalia Digby, Aging and Disability Resource Coordinator for the WCAAA, will join us at 11:00 to let people know about the services they provide for Aging and Disability Resources (please see the attached flyer). She will not interfere with peoples’ socialization over lunch, and can meet with you individually if you are interested in finding out what they offer. The Agency is quite impressive with their programs and want to help seniors any way they can.
After the New Year, we hope to roll out some new programs (games, crafts, exercise, trips or just open houses), so stay tuned for more news in the beginning of 2025.
