Welcome!

My name is Dave Lewis. I have lived in Barkhamsted for over 30 years. I raised my family here, and my children had to learn how to pull weeds at an early age.  I have always had a big garden.

 I am proud to be involved with the community garden, and eager to get things growing!  I am an advanced Master Gardener, certified by UConn, and a certified Master Composter.  I am available to help you with your garden, and will try to answer any related garden questions.

On this link you will find information about planting and growing vegetables, flowers, and herbs.  As it becomes relevant, you will also find advice about growing different kinds of plants, fertilizing, watering, weeding, and strategies to control any pest problems.  You may also find information about the kinds of weeds which are appearing in the gardens, and the best way to combat them.

The best defense against pests is looking for signs of trouble, early intervention, and knowledge of the particular pest and the right timing to control them.  You can get help here, and by contacting me at:
